PRINCIPLE Study - Covid 19 Clinical trial
Our practice is currently taking part in a clinical study called PRINCIPLE. This is a clinical trial looking at patients aged 50-64 with co-morbidities and patients aged over 65 with or without co-mobordities and presenting with Covid symptoms (first 7 days of symptoms).

The objective is to assess effectiveness of treatments to reduce the need for hospital admission or worse. Patients will be randomised so not all patients eligible will receive the trial medication, but all should receive testing kits and other measures.

NEON Study

Have you experienced mental health problems?  Are you interested in having access to other people’s real-life stories of mental health issues and recovery?

The NEON Collection is the world’s largest collection of real life mental health recovery stories. If you would like to take part in a trial investigating whether accessing these stories helps people with their own recovery, you can find more information here: recoverystories.ukEverything is online, and there is no face-to-face contact.

Electronic Prescription Service Phase 4
From Monday 30th March, the practice will go live with Phase 4 of the Electronic Prescription Service. This means that 95% of prescriptions will go electronically, even if you do not have a nominated pharmacy. If you do not have a nominated pharmacy, your prescription will still be signed electronically to the central spine so that any pharmacy can pull this through, but in order to collect your prescription from the pharmacy you will still need to collect a prescription token from our surgery. You will not be able to obtain the token until it has been signed electronically. We highly recommend that you nominate a pharmacy as this means you can collect your prescription directly from the pharmacy without presenting to the surgery first. Welcome to Social Prescribing!
Many of life's problems can make us feel unwell. Social prescribing is new service where a GP, nurse or other healthcare professional can refer you to a specialist link worker to talk about any non medical issues you may be facing, and find the right services to support you. The service can help you to improve your health and wellbeing and make positive life changes. It covers:

  • Accessing specialist services and support
  • Befriending, counselling and groups
  • Education and learning
  • Employment, training and volunteering
  • Getting involved in local groups and activities
  • Healthy lifestyles and active lives
  • House, benefits and financial advice

Ask to speak to our Social Prescriber, Jenny Curtin, who will contact you to find out what you are interested in, tell you about what services and activities are available locally and help you access them. Please ask at reception for further details.
